IRB Premiership Day 1

South Africa 30 Argentina 14


A comfortable home win for the South Africans who managed a bonus point 4 tries to 2 over Argentina, who took an early lead through a try by Simone, converted by Quesada. South Africa then racked up 30 unsanswerd points through tries to Le Roux, Mulder, Rousseaux and van der Westhuizen. Joel Stransky added 2 penalties and two conversions before a late consolation try by Phelan.

South Africa next travel to Twickenham to face the English whilst Argentina travel to Suva to face Fiji.

Rugby Union

This post details the tournaments I will be running using Roogames excellent Ruck and Maul.


First up, using the best World Cup teams from 1987 to 2003 (plus Portugal2007 to make up the numbers), countries have been split into two Divisions of 12 for League play. The 8 major nations are joined in the Premiership by Argentina, Samoa, Fiji and Canada. In the Championship are USA, Zimbabwe, Uruguay, Namibia, Ivory Coast, Italy, Romania, Spain, Portugal, Georgia, Tonga, Japan.

MLB Day 1 games

4 games commence the action in MLB


LA Angels 1 Philadelphia Athletics 2

The Athletics scored an 12th Inning win when Danny Murphy hit a 2 out double that saw Sam Chapman reach home plate. The Angels had taken a 7th inning lead when Bob Boone drove in Chili Davis, but the Athletics came back in thetop of the 8th when an Eddie Collins triple saw Sam Chapman home. Lefty Grove got the win, Chief Bender the save and Mark Langston the loss for the Angels

Houston Astros 6 Boston Braves 10

Hugh Duffy had 4 hits (including 2 triples) and drove in 5 runs as the Braves scored 5 runs in the 6th Inning to take their game in Houston. The Astros had controlled the game leading 6-3 at the end of the 5th, before Boston unleashed some power hitting. Jeff bagwell hit the first Home run of the year for the Astros. Kid Nichols picked up the win and Johnny Sain the save, and Mike Hampton recorded the loss

NHL Day 1 games

Day 1 of action saw two games, the Penguins visit the Thrashers in the East and in the West, the Ducks visit the Avalanche

Syl Apps scored 1:40 into OT to take Pittsburgh to a hard fought win in Atlanta. Pittsburgh had scored twice in the first period through Errey and Lemieux and looked comfortable for the win. However the Thrashers worked hard in the remaining two periods, pulling a goal back through Kozlov, and scored the equaliser with 10 seconds left in regulation through Dany Heatley, before Apps scored the OT winner. Tom Barrasso was credited the win and Kari Lehtonen the loss.

Ducks 1 1 1 3

Teemu Selanne scored twice, including the winner with 9:43 remaining in the 3rd, as the Ducks came from 2-1 down in the first period to win in Denver. Gillis and Deadmarsh scored for Colorado and Havelid pulled one back for the Ducks before Selanne's double proved decisive. Hebert got the win for the Ducks and Bouchard the loss for Colorado

My cricket games are played with Cricket World from Owzat Games...I've started with the year I was born 1967 and play round robin games with all test playing nations who played a game in that year...in 1967 it was England, Australia, South Africa, India, Pakistan and West Indies......points scored as per Sheffield Shield....6 for a win, 2 for a win on first innings
